Food Services

Protecting our community from the transmission of disease from food. The department provides county/local licensing, inspection and education to food service operations and retail food establishments in Richland County. The Board of Health, with the help of the Food Safety Program, enforces food safety rules and laws which are set forth by the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code.

Licensing and Inspections

The food safety program at Richland Public Health licenses and routinely inspects food service operations, temporary and mobile food services, vending locations and retail food establishments to ensure public safety. When a health code violation is observed, education regarding the issue is provided to the operator and corrective measures are provided. Thanks to an ongoing working relationship between Richland Public Health’s Registered Sanitarians and the food service operators in Richland County, our community is protected against foodborne illnesses resulting from improper food preparation, handling, and storage as defined by the health code.
