March Traffic Fatality Report

The Richland County Safe Communities Coalition reports that for the month of March there was one traffic death in Richland County.
The only previous March with a traffic fatality in the last five years was in 2008 when five people died in a single alcohol-related crash.
The chart below reflects the five-year totals of traffic-related fatalities in Richland County for March and for the year to date:

According to the Federal Highway Administration’s comprehensive costs for traffic fatalities*, each fatality has a comprehensive cost of $6 million associated with it. The four traffic fatalities this year have cost Richland County $24 million.
April is Distracted Driver Awareness Month and the Richland County Safe Communities Coalition and the Mansfield/Ontario/Richland County Health Department is reminding people that driving is a full-time task that requires all of your attention.
