Flu Shots Available by Appointment

December 19, 2011

Flu shots are available by appointment through Public Health Nursing at the Mansfield/Ontario/Richland County Health Department. Call 419-774-4540 to schedule an appointment.

"We have not even reached peak flu season yet and it’s an important prevention message," said Amy Vincent, Director of Nursing at the Mansfield/Ontario/Richland County Health Department. "Flu season typically peaks in February and continues into March. Getting a flu shot now is still a good idea. Nobody likes to be sick. Getting the flu will cause you to miss work or school along with your favorite activities. You might also pass the flu on to your family, friends or co-workers. Protect yourself. Protect others. Get vaccinated.”

Flu vaccine is $22 for adults 19 years and older (Medicare and Medicaid are accepted) and $10 for children from ages 6 months old through 18 years old. A parent or legal guardian or another adult must accompany children less than 18 years old with written permission from the parent or guardian to get a shot. In order to speed processing, adults are being asked to bring their driver’s license.

Further information about the importance of getting a flu shot can be found on websites such as flu.gov or Flu.Ohio.Gov.
