Health Promotion/Education
Health Promotion and Education is an informational link to the community and the media. Services include programs on risk reduction and healthy lifestyles, health screenings for public and private employees, resource materials (videos, pamphlets, booklets) on health topics, and presentations for groups.
The CountyEmployee Wellness Program, Child Car Seat Program, AARP Senior Driver Refresher Course and the Richland County Safe Communities Coalition (Traffic Safety Grant) are a few of our major programs.

County Employee Wellness Program (includes Cholesterol Screenings)
The Health Promotion/Education provides health risk appraisals for Richland County employees. The health risk appraisals include a medical history assessment, blood pressure checks, and a total blood chemistry profile. These screenings are held at various county buildings in Mansfield. Child Passenger Safety Seats
Did you know that four out of five child passenger safety seats are installed incorrectly? Do you know that children must be in an approved child passenger seat until they are four years old AND 40 pounds? Did you know that children should be in boosters seats after they are four years old until they are 4' 9" tall? The Health Department has four certified child passenger safety seat technicians that can help you make sure your child is riding properly and safely. Safe Communities Grant
The Richland County Safe Communities Coalition is a traffic safety program of Mansfield/Ontario/Richland County Health Department coordinated by Health Promotion/Education. The grant-funded project is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Governor's Hihway Safety Office and is a community-based program creating awareness and prevention of injuries caused by traffic crashes. Safe Communities is a program developed to establish and/or expand partnerships within each community to achieve a safer, healthier community, and in return reduce costs associated with injury. AARP Senior Driving Safety Classes
Three to four times a year, Health Promotion/Education runs the AARP Senior Driver Safety Course which is a refresher course for drivers 50 years old and older and designed to keep older drivers on the road longer and safer. The course is taught at various locations in Richland County. The two day class is four hours each day and cost is $10 to pay for the workbook. CLICK ON THIS LINK for the next available class.
