The Public Health Nursing division consists of public health nurses who provide a variety of public health programs to the community. The public health nurses perform case management services for families who have children with special health care needs through the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps, newborn home nurse visits with ongoing follow-up and parent education, and school health services contracted through the schools. Senior Health Screenings, Community Health Screenings, and annual flu clinics are provided at locations throughout Richland County.
Our staff epidemiologist and public health nurses work with local health care providers and the Ohio Department of Health to control the outbreak of communicable disease. Case managers are also available to link low-income and uninsured women over age 40 to breast and cervical cancer screening. The Mansfield/Ontario/Richland County Health Department also provides leadership in the area of emergency response related to biological or public health threats.
An interpreter may be arranged if needed for foreign language or hearing impaired clients.

HELP AVOID GETTING SICK: WASH YOUR HANDS
Handwashing may be your single most important act to help stop the spread of infection and stay healthy. Washing your hands is particularly important during flu season. The CDC has made a handwashing video available: CLICK HERE. You can also download two posters in PDF format. One is on "Cover Your Cough" and the other is a "Handwashing Poster" from the CDC.
